The Coalbrookdale foundry in Shropshire, England took advantage of the new technology in cast iron and produced some of the finest examples of garden furniture and ornaments of the 18th century.

Highly collectable, Coalbrookdale pieces are characterised by their designs featuring garden plants. Other major foundries of the period include the French equivalent of Coalbrookdale, André (J P Victor, later Barbezat & Cie)
