A set of four rare and very large terracotta finials made by Blanchard c.1860 and featured in their sales catalogue as shown.
With fabulous scale, these grand 5ft 5 inches tall pieces are very rare and highly collectable antiques.
Each sits on a square plinth and they would originally have been placed on the corners of a roof, or on elegant ballustrade at the edge of a terrace.
With beautiful floral swags, they are topped with pineapple detail. As an exotic and scarce fruit, pineapples were seen as a symbol of wealth and power at the time.
